Math

Math so simple, even my sister can do it without her fingers, toes, and a ten key:

Pregnancy is 40 weeks.  There are 4 weeks in a month.  So why does everyone say pregnancy is 9 months?  This is right up there with "I could care less" in my book.

  1. If your math is correct then there would be a total of 48 weeks in a 12 month calendar year... Assuming that there are indeed 7 days in a week then that would be 336 days, 29 days short of our current calendar year... unless it's a leap year and then.... uh...wait..Math..maybe not so simple after all.

  2. There is far too much rounding in the whole pregnancy thing. First appointment they ask when her last "monthly friend" was, then assume she got pregnant on that last day. Um, I'm going to go ahead and guess that virtually no women get pregnant on that day. I feel they should be a little more precise. I kept telling the doctor, "no no, it was the next Thursday, I remember!"

  3. Yeah... I found the whole dating system to be errant at best. Much like the english Stone system of measuring weight.... Weighing in at 12 stone, i could be either 168lbs or 182 or any weight in between...

I tried arguing the point too...but threw my hands up filing it under the ever expanding: "it's a pregnancy thing, you won't get it" file.
